Accomodation
I must say coming to study at Tuart College as an international student is a decision I'll never regret. The whole year has been wonderful and memorable, with high academic standards and wonderful and highly qualified staff. Studying overseas is not just about obtaining higher levels of education; it's a journey of self-discovery, being independent, growing up and first steps to adulthood. The number of friends I have made is amazing; all are to remember for life and to be cherished forever. This year has been a good adventure, the biggest adventure of my life - and it's getting better and better everyday. - Mr Jerry Tan Wei Siang
Accommodation is an important aspect of student life in Perth, and the College aims to ensure that all students are comfortably and safely housed so that they can focus on their studies. An Accommodation Officer is available at the College to provide a comprehensive and efficient accommodation service for international students.
Types of accommodation available to international students.
- Homestay Furnished rooms in homes
- Rental properties
Our Accommodation Officer will:
- inspect your prospective accommodation
- accompany you on visits to view accommodation
- ensure that your accommodation is easily accessible to the College
- provide you with information on a variety of types and prices of accommodation
- place you in permanent accommodation during the orientation week
- arrange accommodation in advance upon request
- advise you on all aspects of accommodation in Perth
Homestay
| With homestay arrangements, you live in supervised conditions with an Australian family. The family cooks and cares for your everyday needs such as laundry and cleaning, allowing you more time for study. | ![]() |

The homestay style of accommodation gives you a friendly, safe and secure environment in which to pursue your studies.
Homestay host families are selected by the College staff according to strict requirements.
Furnished Rooms in Homes
Another option is to rent a furnished room in the home of an Australian family, but have responsibility for your own cooking, washing and cleaning.
The facilities of the house, including refrigerator, microwave, washing machine and television are available for your use. In this type of arrangement, you will have privacy for studying and many opportunities to speak English, as you will be part of an Australian household.
Rental Properties
If you wish to have more independent living arrangements, you can rent accommodation facilities and look after yourself entirely. Most students who choose this option share with other students. Sharing arrangements may involve from two to eight students.
Why Share?
Sharing allows all students to reduce their weekly living expenses, share the duties such as cooking, washing and cleaning as well as provide moral support for and assistance to one another with their study programs.
For all rental properties, you must sign a tenancy agreement. The Colleges will provide you with help and advice in this matter.

Student village accommodation
Tuart College has access to a student residential complex. The facility, known as Tuart Mews, is adjacent to the College. Each fully furnished unit has four bedrooms, accommodating one student per bedroom.
In the complex you are assigned your own room in a furnished unit where you will share common living areas and other facilities.
-
Apartments
Close to the College are residential properties that you can rent at the current market value.
Such accommodation usually involves two or three students sharing. This arrangement offers the opportunity to live entirely independently in the community.
-
Houses
Similarly, there are houses for rent close to the College. Such accommodation usually involves four or five students sharing. Not only does it give you the opportunity to live independently in the community, but it also gives you a large amount of living space.
The Colleges advise international students to consider seriously selecting homestay accommodation during the first few months of their program because this type of accommodation provides the support, assistance and supervision that is invaluable during the period while students are settling in and establishing themselves in a new country.
Only students over 18 years of age can sign tenancy agreements.
Each type of accommodation has advantages and disadvantages and you need to consider carefully which one will best suit your requirements.
Great friends sharing great times. Particularly enjoyed English, Accounting & Economics classes. - Ms Oon Hui Khee
